FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - The man who has chosen to represent himself in defense of his shooting rampage at Fort Hood in 2009 will enter his court martial today. The trial comes after years of delays. Thirteen people died and more than 30 people were wounded in the shootings.

HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police have shot and killed a gunman who fired into the air before targeting officers. Police answered a call about a man in an SUV firing shots. Police say the gunman refused to show his hands and instead ran behind the gas station. Police say two officers chased the suspect when he twice fired shots at the pair.

ALMA, Ga. (AP) - A University of Texas professor and her husband have been killed in a small plane crash in Georgia. Sid Shah and Shama Gamkhar were killed. Gamkhar was a public affairs professor at UT in Austin. The couple lived in different cities but would often fly to see each other. Her husband was a pilot.

HOUSTON (AP) - The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has named Joel Cowley as president and chief executive officer. Cowley joined the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2005 as executive director of agricultural competitions and exhibits. The 2014 expo runs March 4-23 at Reliant Park.
