FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - It's unclear how much jurors will get to hear about the Fort Hood shooter's alleged motives. A judge is expected to rule on prosecution requests to introduce evidence about Major Nidal Hasan's (nih-DAHL' hah-SAHNZ') interest in "jihad." Jihad is an Arabic word meaning holy war or Islamic struggle.

DALLAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a Dallas man as a suspect in the deaths of three people fatally shot outside a nightclub. Rigoberto Vazquez Hernandez is charged with capital murder. Police say he shot Claudia Balderas, Francisco Martinez and an unidentified man. Police say Hernandez was the only person armed.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A swarm of bees in a North Texas building has attacked several people. One man was stung more than 100 times. The man and a paramedic went to the hospital. Four firefighters were stung along with a second paramedic. The owner of the property has called a professional beekeeper to remove the bees.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Senator Ted Cruz is meeting with Republican and tea party groups this week around Texas. Cruz will also hold round-table discussion with business people. Congress is on its summer break. That gives lawmakers a chance to return home for Washington to check in with supporters.
