TIMPSON, Texas (AP) - The East Texas town of Timpson has had two earthquakes nearby in one day but no reports of anyone hurt or significant damage. A 4.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded before 5 p.m. yesterday. A second, 4.3 magnitude quake happened before 7 p.m. Timpson police received reports of dishes and pictures falling from walls after the first quake.

NEW YORK (AP) - Football fans in Dallas and other cities can breathe easier now that they'll be able to see the NFL and SEC on CBS. The network and cable provider Time Warner Cable ended a monthlong dispute yesterday. The move resumed broadcast programming in millions of homes that had been blacked out.

MCALLEN, Texas (AP) - U.S. Senator Ted Cruz is touring the Texas Mexico border to talk about border security and tout his U.S. Senate record. The freshman Republican will also continue campaigning to defund the Affordable Care Act in Mission, McAllen and Laredo. He'll be in Mission and McAllen today and will stop in Laredo tomorrow.

DALLAS (AP) - A fried Cuban roll filled with chopped ham and pork shoulder, cheese and pickles drew "Best Taste" honors at a State Fair of Texas fried food contest. A three-judge panel on Monday taste-tested eight finalists before awarding the prize. Other contenders were a deep fried Nutella, a deep fried King Ranch casserole and chicken-fried meatloaf.
