AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Governor Rick Perry says a special election will be held in May to fill the Texas Senate seat vacated by Houston-area legislator Tommy Williams. The Republican state senator will resign before the start of the 2015 legislative session. Williams served three terms in the Texas House before his election to the state Senate in 2003.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Investigators say one person has died in a North Texas house fire. Fort Worth firefighters responded to a report of a home on fire early this morning. Crews were working to put out the blaze when relatives reported one person missing. Authorities are trying to determine what started the blaze.

TYLER, Texas (AP) - An Flint parole officer has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for using his state-owned computer to view child pornography. Barry Porter Griffith pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. Griffith surrendered two personal computers that also contained child pornography images.

HOUSTON (AP) - A suspect has been arrested in the investigation of five retail robberies in the Houston area by a man with a knife. Nathaniel Ilagan is charged with three counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Ilagan was arrested Tuesday night outside a Mexican restaurant after a reported robbery attempt.
