Here are just some of the comments:Dana: There's a difference between a spanking & a beating. Spanking is useful in discipline but beating is abuse. So, yes I believe in spanking.Lola: I was spanked as a child and I deserved every single one of them of course at the time I felt I didn't. But I'm grateful that my parents raised me the way they did.Brianna: I beleive there are other ways to discipline your children like taking away toys or games. I do not agree with hitting a defenseless child.
It's the, perhaps, never-ending debate of whether or not to spank your child.
But, this time, a mother who spanked her then nearly two-year-old daughter was sentenced to five years probation
Rosaline Gonzales, of Corpus Christi, was sentenced after she plead guilty to the charge of Injury to a Child. According to KZTV10, Gonzales reached an agreement with prosecutors. In the agreement, she must take parenting classes and pay a $50 fine to the Children's Advocacy Center.
"You don't spank children today," said Judge Jose Longoria. "In the old days, maybe we got spanked, but there was a different quarrel. You don't spank children."
KZTV10 reports that Gonzales was arrested last December after red marks were noticed on the girl's behind by her grandmother.
According to the Huffington Post, Gonzales does not have custody of her other three children.
What do you think? Is it okay to spank your child?
