Officers found the suspect who robbed an Amarillo Taco Bell hiding in a nearby dumpster.
Just after 5 p.m., Amarillo police officers were sent to Taco Bell on Ross on a report that a man in a red shirt was inside the restaurant threatening people with a gun.
Responding officers saw a man matching that description running west from the location.
Officers began searching the alley near 25th and Ross, and saw a man stand up and look out of a dumpster. They took him into custody.
Officers searched the man and saw that he was carrying a .45 caliber handgun and a fixed blade knife.
Officers also found a quantity of cash in his sock.
The officers took the man back to the store, and learned he robbed the store.
The suspect entered the store, threatened the employees behind the counter, and took the money from the register.
The suspect, Mario Felix Mencias, 29, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for aggravated robbery.
