Suspect in custody for Big Texan Inn robbery

APD has a suspect in custody who has been linked to the April 2 armed robbery of the Big Texan Inn.

A woman has been taken into custody by Amarillo Police Department in connection with the Big Texan Inn robbery that took place April 2 just before 6 a.m.

The motel employee told officers that a white female with blonde hair, a pink hooded jacket and jeans entered the motel office and walked behind the counter. When the employee told her to step back to the other side of the counter, the suspect produced a handgun and demanded money. The suspect took the money from the register. She then made the employee go into a closet or storage area in the office before leaving.

About an hour later, an APD officer saw a woman exiting a motel room near Amarillo Boulevard and N. Manahattan who matched the description of the suspect that was provided by the motel employee. The officer took her into custody and she has been identified as the suspect. She was transported to the Amarillo Police Department for additional investigation. No other information is available at this time, and names of suspects are not released unless they are book into jail on the charge. APD robbery detectives are still investigating this case.
