Police have arrested the man they believe to have been responsible for the death of Daisy Ruth Strout. Officers found that Strout's boyfriend was the last person to have seen and been with her the night she was killed. The boyfriend, Michael Paul Buse, 43, was interviewed at his home in south Amarillo, Sunday morning, at that time police collected his 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche pick-up as evidence, with Buse's consent.
The investigation continued through Sunday and Monday, and it was determined that police needed to re-interview Buse. He was invited to the Special Crimes Unit and was interviewed a second time. After that interview Buse was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of murder in Strout's death.
Investigators believe that the couple got into an argument and Strout exited the pick-up, and was then run over. Police also believe Buse's Avalanche was the vehicle used in the crime.
Preliminary autopsy results indicated that Daisy Strout died from blunt force injuries to her upper body.
The investigation continues, and anyone with additional information is asked to call the Special Crimes Unit at (806) 378-9468.
On Sunday morning around 4:10, police were sent to W. 15th and S. Georgia on a report that a woman was down in a parking lot. When officers arrived, they found Daisy Strout, 26, dead in the south parking lot of the businesses located at 1220 S. Georgia. Police said Strout had been run over and was the victim of a hit and run driver.
