Sunray men killed in two vehicle wreck

Two young adults from Sunray were killed in an early Saturday morning wreck.

According the Texas Department of Public Safety that wreck happened at the intersection of FM 281 and Highway 136 around 7:25 a.m. DPS Troopers say a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 26-year old Casey Dean Louthan of Fritch was traveling northbound on Highway 136. A 2003 Buick Century driven by 20-year old Christopher Merlin McCorkle of Sunray was traveling eastbound on FM 281, when troopers say McCorkle disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and hit the trailblazer.

Louthan was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital where he is listed in critical, but stable condition after suffering head trauma in the wreck. McCorkle was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Shila Hart. Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt. There was also a passenger in that vehicle, 19-year old Christopher Daniel Everett of Sunray. He was also pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say he was wearing a seat belt.
