DALLAS (AP) - Strong winds have downed some power lines and cut electricity to parts of North Texas.
Oncor (ON'-kor) on Monday reported more than 3,100 homes and businesses without electricity, mainly in the Dallas area. A utility spokesman says the windy conditions blew in overnight and crews worked to restore electricity.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Dallas-Fort Worth area until midday Monday. Gusts of nearly 40 mph were recorded before dawn along with a cold front that dropped temperatures into the 30s.
Forecasters issued a wind advisory for the Austin and San Antonio areas through late Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, colder weather could reach Southeast Texas by Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for the Houston area from late Monday through Tuesday night.
