Monday afternoon at approximately 2:20 p.m. Amarillo Police officers responded to a robbery call at a Family Dollar in the 1000 block of south Grand Street.
According to police, a store manager saw the suspect take several items and leave without paying for them. The store manager then followed the suspect outside and used their vehicle to block the suspect from fleeing the scene. The suspect did hit the store manager's car but the vehicle only received minor damage.
After the suspect hit the manager's car, the suspect and a male passenger got out of the vehicle and started running. A witness and the manager then chased the suspect and held him until police arrived at the scene.
APD has identified the suspect at 22-year-old James Dakota Horton. Horton was booked in the Potter County Correction Center for aggravated robbery. Police said the stolen merchandise was returned to the store.
