Stanley Marsh 3, 76, died on June 17, according to sources close to Marsh.
Failing health was the cause of death. He died in hospice care.
He grew up in the Wolflin area, the heir to an oil and cattle fortune. He was an artist, philanthropist, prankster -- best known for Cadillac Ranch, an art installation west of Amarillo. He was married to Wendy O'Brien in 1967 and they built their house off Western and named it Toad Hall.
Marsh was the founder and owner of Marsh Media. He bought KVII-TV in 1967, and sold the station in 2002. Over the years, Marsh has been in legal turmoil including outstanding criminal and civil lawsuits.
