Stabbing leaves woman dead, suspect in custody
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
UPDATE: According to the Amarillo Police Department, 22-year-old Haley Sue Green was found suffering from stab wounds when officers arrived at the 100 block of North Fairmont just after 9:40 p.m. Friday. Green later died at the scene.
APD said while officers were at the residence, a call of a possible burglary in progress went out in the 300 block of Bellview.
Patrol, K-9 officers and a DPS helicopter responded to the area where 32-year-old Mark Christopher Ahrens was located in the yard.
Ahrens ran from the officers, but was shortly caught. Ahrens resisted arrest and punched an officer in the face, but was taken into custody and was identified as the suspect in the homicide.
According to officials, Ahrens was placed under arrest for murder, evading arrest or detention and assault on a public servant. He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
Justice of the Peace Thomas Jones has ordered an autopsy that will be performed Monday morning in Lubbock.

ORIGINAL: One woman is dead and a man is in custody following a stabbing Friday evening.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were called to the 100 block of North Fairmont on a stabbing around 9:40 p.m.
When officers arrived, a woman was found deceased inside.
A male suspect has been taken into custody.
The APD Special Crimes Unit is investigating the incident and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
