Speed a factor in multi life-threatening crash at 29th & Grand

After a serious wreck on May 5 at 29th and Grand, five were sent to a local hospital, four with life-threatening injuries.
Upon arrival of emergency personnel, they discovered that an 8-year-old girl had been ejected as a result of the crash. The girl was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators have since learned that her condition has improved. She had been a passenger in a 2004 Saturn 4-door driven by Mary Ann Lamb, 57, of Amarillo.
Lamb had three additional juveniles were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, investigators have since learned that their conditions have improved since initial assessment.
The Saturn had been westbound on 29th when it pulled out in front of a northbound 2005 Nissan 4-door driven by a 16-year-old male. Two juvenile passengers from the Nissan were uninjured.
Speed is a possible factor in this collision. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
