Special crimes investigates Amarillo homicide

Police investigate the residence in the 800 block of south Mississippi.

UPDATE: APD has confirmed that a suspect is in custody. 25-year-old Michael Ross Philley was arrested and booked into the Potter County Correction Center for murder and a warrant for assault against a family member. APD said that preliminary autopsy results indicate the Mr. Turlington died from blunt force trauma to the upper body.

On Wednesday December 4, 2013 at approximately 6:33 a.m. Amarillo emergency officials received a call about a possible stabbing in the 800 block of south Mississippi.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, responding officers found two men inside the residence when they arrived. APD said that one of the men was detained and the other man had been assaulted and was dead.

The victim was identified as 53-year-old Eddie Don Turlington and an autopsy has been ordered for Turlington tomorrow morning in Lubbock.
