Special Crimes investigates after body tossed out of vehicle

UPDATE: APD has released the preliminary autopsy results. Hooser died from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Special Crimes is currently investigating the incident.

Monday evening at approximately 6:50 p.m. Amarillo Police Department Officers responded to the 200 block of south Bryan on an assault call.

According to APD, responding officers found a man lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound and other injuries. Witnesses at the scene said that the man was pushed out a vehicle. An off duty officer tried to give the victim first aid before emergency responders arrived.

Responding paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Lance Lee Hooser, an autopsy has been ordered and will be performed on Thursday in Lubbock.
