Shooting suspect released from hospital, arrested

Sorority House shooting

The man who took part in a fight at the Sorority Club on July 29th, and shot at Amarillo Police has been released from the hospital and is now in custody in Randall County jail.

Police say that Markeen Walker was released Monday, and has been booked for two counts of Attempted Aggravated Assault Against a Peace Officer with a Deadly Weapon.

You'll recall that Walker was part of a fight that happened around 1:00 a.m. outside the club. When police attempted to break up the fight when Walker began firing a semi-automatic gun into the air. The officers told him to drop the gun, that's when he pointed the gun at the police. At that time the officers fired a total of seven shots from their weapons hitting Walker four times. Walker was transported to the hospital and received treatment for his injuries.

Another man was also shot during the incident, he has been treated and released.

The officer involved shooting will be presented to a Randall County Grand Jury in the near future for review.
