Sun, 12 May 2013 23:00:11 GMT — Share The Road invites riders to take part in this yearâ??s Ride of Silence Wednesday night. Ride of Silence is a silent ride where riders on their motorcycle, bicycle, etc. ride along a planned route in silence for all of the riderâ??s lives lost by being hit by a car on the roads. Ride of Silence is an international awareness ride that takes place on the third Wednesday of May. This year, 327 rides across the nation have been confirmed. Amarilloâ??s Ride of Silence will take place Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 starting at Amarillo College Washington Street campus on 24 th and Jackson Street. Share The Road is an organization that strives to improve the safety of drivers and riders throughout Amarillo. Garry Rich of the organization said he wants drivers to be more cautious and aware of their surrounds and share the road. â??There are going to be motorcyclists, there are going to be bicyclists and children playing. Weâ??re driving a 4,000 pound vehicle, some larger, some smaller thatâ??s going to win in most accidents.â?? said Rich. â??Just look twice.â??
