Several transported to hospitals after wreck in Hutchinson County

UPDATE: According to DPS, one person has died from injuries received in the wreck. We will have more details as they become available.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety 12 people have been transported to hospitals after two separate wrecks in Hutchinson County.

The first wreck occurred after a Ford Ranger was attempting to turn into a private drive when it was struck by a a pickup heading westbound on State Highway 136. Six people were transported with injuries ranging from life-threatening to minor.

DPS said this wreck caused traffic to back up on State Highway 136 which led to the second wreck. According to DPS, three vehicles were involved in the second wreck. An additional six people were transported to hospitals with minor injuries.

At this time Highway 136 has been reopened after being closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clean up the area and law enforcement officials investigated the scene.
