Senior citizens get a lesson on severe weather

The Senior Citizen's Center of Amarillo hosted a seminar Thursday to help prepare elderly folks for severe storms.

Many groups came and spoke to senior citizens about how to properly prepare when bad weather approaches. The main goal is to get these folks signed up for the special needs registry, so when a disaster strikes they know how to get in contact with the citizens.

"Because of the size of Amarillo we have a lot of people to get to if there is a disaster such as a tornado. And say it hits a certain area of town, going door to door would take some time to find out who was there," said Linda Hancock.
