Reward offered for 'Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive' from Amarillo

The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Carlos Rafael Benitez, 29.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Carlos Rafael Benitez, 29.

Benitez is currently one of the DPS' Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives.

Benitez is described as a White (Hispanic) man, 5'5" tall, weighs approximately 170 pounds and has a "BENITEZ" tattoo on his back.

The DPS said he is wanted for Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant against an Amarillo Police Department Officer and Evading Arrest with a vehicle stemming from a traffic stop on August 2nd, 2016. Benitez was indicted in Potter County on October 12, 2016, and charged with the offenses.

DPS said on March 8, 2017, multiple arrest warrants were issued in Potter County for Benitez for bond surrender after he failed to appear in court.

Benitez has ties to Amarillo and Donley County, including the town of Hedley. He has a history of working in the tire service business.

His last known address was 1821 North Cleveland Street in Amarillo.

DPS said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
