Rescue underway after 35-foot deep utility trench collapses on worker

UPDATE | The man who was trapped after a 35-foot deep utility trench collapsed on him Friday morning has been pulled out by fire crews.

He is being taken to a local hospital for evaluation.


ORIGINAL STORY | Amarillo firefighters are working to rescue a man after a utility trench collapsed on him in Southwest Amarillo.

According to APD, a man in his 50s is trapped but is alive and talking. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The trench is about 35 feet deep and is located behind an apartment complex at Soncy Street and Arden Road.
