W hat two things inspire you to achieve success?
Students in Texas were asked that question recently. One students answer won him an iPad, and won his school $500.
Ben Burks is a second grader at Puckett Elementary. With his parents help, he came up with a creative picture to express what inspires him to succeed.
Pronews 7 is featuring his achievement in this week's Region 16 Spotlight Education report.
It's this picture that won Ben Burks the "Raise Your Hand Texas" Pick the Pick Contest. He was asked what inspires him to succeed.
His answer? It's to make good grades and to get a good job.
"I had to decide what inspires me to be successful. To get a good job when I grow up and to make good grades , " said Ben Burks, 2nd Grader at Puckett Elementary.
For winning, Burks won an iPad and $500 for his school. He says on his iPad, he's been reading his favorite books, like Hank the Cowdog, and playing educational games.
Ben even got to help decide what the money will be spent on, books for his schools library.
"To buy books for our Puckett library s o that other students could get books that they don't have and I could get them as well , " said Burks.
"It's a great opportunity for us. We are always looking for funding to help supplement the funds we already recieve , so that $500 will help to build our Puckett Elementary Library , " said Jeanine Powell, Puckett Elementary Principal.
Burks says he's still trying to decide what career he wants to tackle, but he does know he wants to go to Texas A&M University when he grows up.
