Range Riders Rope for a cure

Type I Diabetes is a serious disease that many children live with and that's why the Amarillo Range Riders are hosting their 5th annual Rope for a Cure event to help children fighting diabetes.

After having clinics earlier in the week from some of the best in the business, team ropers are gathering at the Will Rogers Range Riders Arena to spin a few steers.

The team roping event will go through Sunday, August 11, 2013 where anyone can sign up to compete or just stop in and support the cause.

Rather than wearing your glass slippers, you can wear your dancing boots to attend the cowboy ball and dinner with live music and auction items Saturday August 10, 2013.

"It's an awesome event and it's a great cause. Type I Diabetes is a terrible disease that affects young children and it's something they have to live with for the rest of their life," said Range Rider, J.T. Haynes "It's a great feeling knowing we can do something to raise money to help find a cure, raise awareness, and help the kids who are fighting it."

Range Riders raised more than $125,000 last year with this event and hope to do the same this year.
