      Pre-written obituary goes viral

A Delaware man who recently passed away left behind a very unique and humorous legacy: he wrote his own obituary -- and it went viral.

Those who knew him say Walter Bruhl Jr. was spirited and lovable in life, but even more is being learned about the Dewey Beach resident in death.

That's because Bruhl, who passed away March 9, wrote his own obituary - something that is rarely done or seen.

In the obituary, Bruhl discusses his funeral plans and how his wife "refuses to honor his request to have him standing in the corner of the room with a glass of Jack Daniels in his hand so he would appear natural to visitors."

Lines like that made the obituary go viral on sites like Reddit and Buzzfeed.

Walter passed away in Florida where he spent most of his winters, but warmer days were spent at his home in Dewey Beach where neighbors day that although they were saddened by his death, they were not surprised by his obituary.

Peter and Rose Lucas said they weren't surprised that it went viral.

Bruhl ended the obituary in an equally witty and thoughtful way.

"Instead of flowers, Walt would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor and unfortunate soul in his name.
