Power has been restored to Canyon & Hereford residents according to Xcel Energy.
Xcel Spokesman Wes Reeves says the cold weather caused more than 6,000 residents to be without power Saturday morning.
"When the weather started moving in early this morning, it really started with the freezing fog and it turned into a mist and really those are sometimes the most dangerous times for us. If we've had some dry days, there's contamination or dust that gets on the lines and on the insulators and the contamination gets moist and we can get tracking on the lines," Reeves said.
The transmission failure was for a few hours Saturday morning and Reeves said crews worked quickly to have power restored.
More than 2,000 Canyon residents and 4,000 Hereford residents were affected.
