One dead after accident involving school bus and multiple vehicles

UPDATE: One person is dead after an accident involving a school bus and an SUV.

Police said the school bus was traveling north on Bell Street and was in the turning lane to go west on Sandie Drive.

Witnesses told investigators the driver of a white SUV, 40-year-old David Nunn, was driving at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic when he drove into the turning lane, hitting the bus head on.

Nunn was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Two passengers and the school bus driver were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.


UPDATE: The school bus was going north on Bell Street and got into the turning lane to go westbound onto Sandie Drive.

A White Excursion was in the southbound lane went into the turning lane causing a head-on collision into the bus.

Students were on the bus, but they all were unharmed during the collision.

The driver of the White Excursion was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police expects the area of Bell Street that is closed off to be closed for another two hours


ORIGINAL:

At around 7:30 a.m. officers were sent to Bell and Sandie Drive on an accident involving a school bus and a white van.

The driver of the van was taken to a local hospital and there are no reported injuries on the school bus.

The inside northbound and southbound traffic lanes and the turning lane are being blocked on Bell street.

The outside traffic lanes are open but drivers driving in the area should expect delays.
