Police seek suspect who tried to rob Schlotsky's employee at gunpoint

Amarillo police are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a Schlotsky's employee at gunpoint Wednesday morning.

The Amarillo Police Department got a call just before 10:30 a.m. on an attempted armed robbery at 3440 Bell Street.

According to police, the suspect watched two different Schlotsky's employees go to their vehicles. The second employee got into a company vehicle and the suspect got into the passenger side of the vehicle. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and ordered the employee to drive.

Police said the employee refused to drive away and went back into the store, leaving the suspect in the vehicle. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and left on foot in an unknown direction. No property was taken and their were no injuries.

APD described the suspect as being a white man in his 20s. He was wearing a white or gray hoodie pulled over his head and a black jacket over the hoodie. He was also wearing a black backpack and silver athletic shorts.
