Police release more information in Dora shooting


A man shot in the head during an altercation in Dora Wednesday remains in critical condition at a Lubbock Hospital that's according to the Clovis News Journal .

Roosevelt County Sheriff Darren Hooker declined to release any names relating to the incident, citing safety issues.

A fter the scene was secured, officers began investigating the shooting. During that investigation and through witness statements, it was determined that two men at the residence had been arguing throughout the evening. That argument later turned in to a physical altercation at around 10:15 that night. During the fight the victim was attempting to attack the other man with a weapon when his wife came out of the house with a firearm.

The wife attempted to stop the fight when the victim turned on her as if to attack. The husband retrieved the firearm from his wife and fired a single shot into the head of the victim. As of 10:00 a.m. Thursday the victim was listed in critical condition at a Lubbock hospital.

As the case is still under investigation further details will not be released at this time.

T he Roosevelt County Sheriff's office is investigating a shooting last night in Dora. An unidentified male was found with a single gunshot wound in the 500 block of Avenue D. He was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital in an unknown condition. The Major Crime Unit is investigating, no arrests have been made at this time. More details will be reported as they become available.
