25-year-old Fernando Manuel Prieto was arrested Friday after Amarillo Police Department responded to shots fired reports in north Amarillo.
According to APD, officers responded to a home in the 3100 block of Oak after a shot was fired into a house in the area. Officers were told that the occupants of the home heard a noise in the living room area of the house and when they went to investigate found a hole in the wall near the front door of the residence. APD confirmed the hole was from a bullet that penetrated the outside wall and entered the living room. Officers were able to recover a spent projectile from the floor of the living room.
Additional APD officers responded to the 1500 block of Jason as shots were continuously fired in the area. Officers began investigating the area and found 100 expended and unexpended .22 caliber cartridges on the ground and porch near the front of a house in the area. APD said two men were standing outside the residence, officers also had the people inside the house come out for questioning. Officers then searched the home and found a .22 caliber handgun.
During their investigation Officers developed information which allowed them to take Prieto into custody. Prieto was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm.
