Police arrest road rage stabbing suspect

A 16-year-old was stabbed on Friday night as a result of road rage.

On April 11 at around 10:15 p.m., Amarillo police officers responded to 2415 S. Coulter on report of a stabbing victim in the parking lot. Police and emergency personnel found the victim in the parking lot with several stab sounds. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Witnesses reported that the incident was a result of road rage.

The suspect confronted the victim in t he parking lot where he assulted the juvenile victim with a knife. The suspect then fled in a yellow compact car.

Responding officers located the suspect vehicle as it fled the scene. Officers stopped the vehicle near I-40 and Georgia where took the suspect into custody.

The suspect was identified as Bobby Wayne Shoemaker, 44. He was booked into Potter County Detention Center on Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Amarillo Police Detectives are currently investigating the incident. The victim's injuries are no longer considered life threatening.
