Helping families transport their children to any of the 22 orthopedic and burn hospitals across North America is the Khiva Shrine Center.
Pittsburg Steelers Defensive End Ziggy Hood is joining that effort.
Khiva Shrine officials said that Hood has been a supporter of their mission for quite sometime and that his contributions are appreciated.
Hood is Palo Duro High alumni and has donated various autographed items that will be raffled off in a fundraising effort being held later this year.
"It was time for me to give back. I have to start somewhere, why not start here?" said Hood. "This organization does a lot for the community and everybody appreciates what they do. So it was a good choice."
The Khiva Shrine Center supports the families and children of 37 counties in the Texas panhandle. As for Hood, he says he is excited to be helping out in his hometown.
