Shawn Van Daele, photographer, helps terminally ill children see their fantasies in real life.

ABC -- W

hat kid hasn't dreamed of being a superhero, a princess, an astronaut or a homerun king?

Some special children in need of a little hope are learning that anything is possible.

Photographer Shawn Van Daele brings the children's flights of fancy to fruition.

The children, all of whom have a life-threatening illness, draw Van Daele a picture about where they want to be, and he imagines the rest of it with them.

It all started with an illness in Van Daele's own family.

"I did it to cheer up my dad while he was sick," he said. "and I started to realize I could do this for other families."
