Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate and congratulate those pharmaceutical students who received their white coats today.
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy presented the class of 2017 with their white coats during a ceremony.
The white coat is a symbol for health care that encompasses pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical care.
Students not only received their white coats, but took the oath of a pharmacist, devoting themselves to a lifetime of service to others through the profession of pharmacy.
"You're taking on a cloak of pharmacy and you need to carry yourself with responsibility in all obligations that that coat implies," said student, Thin Hoang "It's about committing yourself to a higher purpose to serve your community and to better the health of the population around you."
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a reception where students could learn about some of the programs that will help them in their future endeavors.
