Panhandle Spirit:The Citadelle shines in Canadian

You could say The Citadelle is a symbol, a celebration of the arts and an indication of what can be created if thereâ??s a vision to do so.

It was created by Malouf and Therese Abraham, who are noted for their philanthropic generosity to Canadian and the Texas Panhandle.

The house was once a Baptist Church, and Abraham says he wanted to save it from destruction, so he bought it and expanded it.

He says, "Weâ??re not going to let them tear down more buildings if we can help it."

He and his family have done many such projects in Canadian.

The house is now a rare art gallery and shows work from outside, as well.

A Mark Chagall exhibit just ended.
