Panhandle Area Health Education Center to host annual Mash Camp
LUBBOCK, Texas (KVII) —
Panhandle Area Health Education Center(AHEC) is hosting their 2017 annual Medical Avenues to Service Health Camp (Mash Camp) for West Texas students seeking to work in health care.
The Mash accepted 30 students out of over 100 applicants after a competitive rigorous acceptance process that included an essay, teacher recommendation, volunteer experience and GPA.
This Camp will help offer students the opportunity to gain specific knowledge about the healthcare industry by visiting different forms of health care sites such as Hope Veterinary Clinic, Amarillo Maxillofacial Oral Surgery Center, BSA Medical Center, Northwest Texas Healthcare System, and ER Now.
Unfortunately due to state and federal funding budget cuts this much needed program will most likely be the last camp Panhandle AHEC will host.
The camp will be for June 19th to the 22nd.
