Pampa police locate missing child

Kamisha Grimes was charged with kidnapping Tuesday by Pampa Police Deparrtment.

Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:40 p.m. Pampa Police Department responded to a report of a possible child abduction at Lamar Elementary in the 1200 block of south Nelson.

According to PPD, school officials informed officers that a 10-year-old girl was picked up from school by 30-year-old Kamisha Grimes. According to the school officials Grimes is the biological mother of the girl, however the girl was removed from Grimes' care by Child Protective Services and was currently under the care of another relative.

Officers believed the child was in danger due to the reasons as to why the child was removed from Grimes' care and began following up on leads to past known locations of Grimes in their investigation.

PPD said the child was located with Grimes in the 500 block of Harlem Street. The child was unharmed and Grimes was arrested. Grimes was booked into the Gray County Jail for kidnapping and an outstanding theft warrant from Potter County.
