Pair arrested after more than $1M in meth seized during I-40 traffic stop
CONWAY, Texas (KVII) —
Two people from Phoenix, Arizona, were arrested after a Texas Highway Patrol trooper found more than 12 pounds of methamphetamine during a Sunday morning traffic stop in Carson County.
According to DPS, the trooper stopped a 2000 Nissan Xterra traveling east on I-40 near Conway just before 9 a.m.
DPS said the trooper found multiple plastic-wrapped bundles of meth worth about $1 million inside the spare tire of the vehicle.
The two occupants were identified as 27-year-old Lidia Baca-Sandoval and 21-year-old Stephanie Rochin-Cota. They were both arrested, charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked into the Carson County jail.
The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City, according to DPS.
