Pair arrested after meth found in tire during I-40 traffic stop
WHEELER COUNTY, Texas (KVII) —
Two people were arrested after Wheeler County Deputies found methamphetamine hidden inside a tire on a vehicle.
The incident happened on Sunday after a Deputy got a call about a vehicle on I-40 which had a tire that appeared to be falling off, according to the Wheeler County Sheriff's Office. The Deputy stopped the vehicle and saw that the tire was "wobbling heavily."
WCSO said there was a language barrier between the Deputy and the occupants of the vehicle, so the Deputy reached out to a DPS Trooper to help translate.
The vehicle was eventually taken to Irish Road Service, where the tire was checked and appeared to have something inside.
Deputies searched the loose tire, as well as the other three tires, and found 12 bundles of what appeared to be methamphetamine.
WCSO said both occupants were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Over 400 Grams and booked into the Wheeler County Jail.
