One man seriously injured in motorcycle crash

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a motorcycle crash that seriously injured the driver after they said he hit a cement pillar.

It happened Saturday night at 9:25 p.m., officers said they were called to the 200 block of Northeast 15th. Once on scene, officers said they found 29-year old Jorge Ernesto Villalon operating an unknown make dirt bike. Police officers said he had been driving it westbound on the side walk area of NE 15th as it goes under the Dumas Hwy. Villalon drove his motor cross bike up the cement embankment on the north side of the underpass. As he was coming down off the embankment, he lost control and struck a large cement pillar. Villalon was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. Villalon was not wearing a helmet.

It appears alcohol is a factor in this crash. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
