One dead, one injured in Amarillo home invasion


Police have identified the man found dead inside the residence as Leonard Torres, 26. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning in Lubbock.

Amarillo Police are investigating a homicide after one person was killed and one man was injured in a Wednesday night home invasion.

Amarillo Police Department responded to a call that a woman and her boyfriend were attacked when they returned home to find unknown, armed intruders in their house.

The caller told police that her boyfriend had been shot when the intruders opened fire inside the residence. The women said that she and her boyfriend fled the residence, according to a news release.

Police entered the residence in the 1600 block of S. Arthur and found one of the intruders dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.

Officers did not find anyone else inside the residence.

The caller's boyfriend was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

An autopsy for the deceased subject has been ordered and is scheduled to take place Friday.
