One Dead After Shooting on McCormick Rd.

Jerry Bruce Funk, 54, was charged with murder on June 4. His bond was set at $150,000.


The suspect in the shooting at 2517 S. McCormick has been identified as 54 year old Jerry Bruce Funk. Justice of the Peace Judge Tracy Byrd set Funkâ??s bond at $150,000 on the charge of murder. The victimâ??s name or any other details of the incident cannot be released at this time.


An unidentified man who was involved in a shooting on McCormick Rd. late yesterday afternoon has died from his injuries.

Danny Alexander of the Randall County Sheriffâ??s Office said that at 5:39 PM, deputies received a 911 call concerning a shooting at 2517 McCormick Rd. Deputies found a man who had a gunshot wound to the lower body area from a handgun. The alleged shooter, a resident of the home, was still at the scene and was taken into custody. Both men were transported to Northwest Texas Hospital for treatment.

The gunshot victim was listed in critical condition when he was brought to the hospital. He later died during surgery. The alleged shooter was released into police custody and is being held at the Randall County Jail. The reason for the confrontation is still not known, but charges will be filed.

The identities of both men are being withheld at this time, but will be released at a later date. The department is still investigating.
