Officers witness shots fired, book driver

When police arrived to the scene of a 911 hangup call, they witnessed shots fired from a pickup leaving a bar on Amarillo Blvd. The driver was booked into Potter County.
Today, June 4, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to a 911 hangup call at a bar, El Siete de Copas, at 2628 E. Amarillo Blvd.
As officers arrived, they saw several shots fired from a tan Ford Explorer leaving the parking lot.
The officers were able to stop the suspect vehicle in the 800 block of N. Nelson, and it was learned that there were two shooting victims, ages 52 and 56, behind the bar.
The victims' injuries were not life threatening, and the two victims declined medical treatment. One man had a neck wound, and the second had a shoulder wound. One officer described the injuries as "grazing" wounds. At least one vehicle in the parking lot was hit by gunfire.
The suspect vehicle contained two male subjects, who were detained and the firearm was recovered.
All parties involved were transported to the police department for further investigation by the Detective Division, and CSI responded to investigate the shooting scenes.
The driver of the Explorer, Richard Allen Martinez, 20, of Amarillo was arrested and booked into Potter County Correctional Center and charges of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon.
The passenger was released. The investigation is ongoing. No other arrests are expected at this point in the investigation.
