Amarillo-based Northwest Texas Healthcare System and the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla., will enter into a management relationship.
At a meeting of the Memorial Hospital of Texas County Board of Control in Guymon, Okla., on Tuesday, July 22, board members approved entering into a management relationship with Amarillo-based Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The management relationship means that Northwest will provide operational support to the 47-bed Oklahoma facility.
Northwest CEO Mark Crawford met with the Guymon hospital board in February and explained that a relationship with Northwest will allow the Oklahoma hospital to grow and share best practices from Northwest. In addition, the relationship brings advanced care and services from the Amarillo teaching and research facility to the community.
The Guymon hospital will maintain its local governing board and Northwest will bring its strength and experience in hospital operations. Crawford said Northwest understands the challenges of healthcare and the importance of maintaining a community hospital for local residents. He added that Northwestâ??s 200 managers, directors, and clinical leaders will be available to assist Memorial Hospital in navigating the changes in healthcare.
