CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) - A massive funnel cloud loomed over the Clovis area Thursday evening but it didn't touch down in the southeastern New Mexico city.
KOB-TV showed video of a large dark-gray funnel cloud over Clovis.
Meteorologist Amanda Martin of the National Weather Service's Albuquerque office told the Clovis News Journal that the storm cell pummeled the area with egg-sized hail and heavy rain.
She said there were reports of several funnel clouds but no touchdowns.
A tornado warning prompted Curry County Fair officials to urge fairgoers to seek cover in the Events Center.
The warning was lifted about a half-hour later.
