Law Enforcement officers from New Mexico and Texas are actively seeking former Clovis, N.M., certified public accountant, Charles W. Fleming, age 54, who is wanted on 20 charges of embezzlement. Fleming was recently arrested for embezzling approximately $296,000.00 from the New Mexico Cattle Growers Foundation.
In 2010 and 2011, Fleming was the treasurer of the Cattle Growers Foundation. During this time, approximately 20 checks totaling approximately $296,000.00 were issued by Fleming and deposited in his personal bank account in Clovis. In February, 2013, the Cattle Growers President contacted law enforcement about his concerns regarding the accounting practices of the foundation's former treasurer who is Charles Fleming.
Following an investigation by the New Mexico State Police, an arrest warrant was issued for Fleming and on July 2, 2013 he was apprehended in Lubbock,TX. However, he recently failed to appear for his first hearing, and Curry County Magistrate Court issued an arrest warrant based upon his failure to appear. Officials believe Fleming could be hiding in eastern New Mexico or west Texas.
