SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Fe jury has convicted two brothers who were accused of stealing $440,000 from an elderly couple in a real estate investment scam. State regulators say Michael and Steven Maxwell befriended the couple through a family member.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - An autopsy has determined that a 42-year-old man who died following a Santa Fe bar fight suffocated as patrons held him down waiting for police to arrive. The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the district attorney is reviewing the case for possible charges.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico utility plans to use some of the water it gets from Colorado to test pumping water underground for later use later. The Albuquerque Journal reports the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority wants to store the water for times of drought.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico State University Board of Regents is hosting a reception today to welcome former Gov. Garrey Carruthers as the school's 27th president. The NMSU Board of Regents voted 3-2 Monday for Carruthers to lead the state's second-largest four-year university.
