Over two hundred cyclists gathered Saturday at West Texas A&M University to kick off this yearâ??s Bike MS Ride around the Rim fundraiser.
â??This is our 26th year. Bike MS is the largest fundraising event for the National MS Society in the Texas Panhandle,â?? said April Brownlee, the senior development manager for National MS Society.â?? We have over 100 Bike MS events across the country.â??
Although funds have not been calculated, Brownlee says their goal is to raise $130,000 this weekend. National MS Society will continue fundraising for the next 30 days.
There are about 800 people in the Texas Panhandle with MS, according to Brownlee.
Saturday was Day 1 of the two day ride where cyclists rode 104.8 miles. Cyclists will finish the last 25.8 miles of the ride Sunday.
