UPDATE (3:45 P.M.): According to the Clovis Police Department, close to 2,000 acres burned and the fire is 95-98 percent contained. Fire crews are monitoring the area for hot spots.

Officials said no structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

The Clovis Police Department wants to thank the community for providing food and water for the firefighters who were out fighting the blaze.

UPDATE (2:15 P.M.): According to the Clovis Fire Department, the grass fire is now 95 percent contained.

ORIGINAL: Multiple fire departments are on the scene of a large grass fire near Clovis, New Mexico.

According to the Clovis Fire Department, a grass fire broke out around 10 a.m. CFD said the fire is around 700 acres and only 40 percent is contained.

Multiple fire departments are on scene including the Clovis Fire Department, Grady County Fire Department, Broadview Fire Department, Farwell Volunteer Fire Department, Canyon Air Force Base, Melrose Volunteer Fire Department, Bovina Volunteer Fire Department and Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
