Most Wanted Fugitive arrested after six hour standoff

Sat, 27 Jul 2013 22:28:18 GMT — On Friday, July 26, 2013, at approximately 7:30 P.M., the Clovis Police Department was notified about the location of a fugitive wanted on several warrants by a local bail bondsman. The fugitive was identified as Patrick George Lopez. Mr. Lopez was featured as a "Most Wanted" person on July 12, 2013. Lopez was wanted in connection with Two Outstanding Warrants; One for Aggravated Driving While Impaired/Intoxicated by Liquor or Drugs; One for Concealing Identity. Clovis Police Officers responded to the Westward Ho Hotel in the 600 block of East 1st Street. As officers attempted to make contact with Lopez, he attempted to escape by breaking through the ceiling in the hotel room and entering the attic area. Information was provided that Lopez may be armed with a handgun and has criminal history indicating his possession and use of firearm. The Clovis Police Department SWAT Team was notified. After a six-hour stand-off Lopez was safely taken into custody and transported to the Curry County Detention Facility where he was booked on the warrants and the additional charges of Resisting Arrest, Felony Criminal Damage and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
